Hoeveel kilo had je mee?
The GR20 takes 20 days and I wanna do it from beginning to the end so when I do it I want to be fully prepared. Also nights will be short (small places to sleep, backpackers coming in & out, snorring, etc...), full days of walking, some tough stages with a few 1000m differences in altitude. Definately no holiday! Your broken after 20 days! In tourist season it's hard to get a sleeping spot aswell so better to do it outside the busy periods. Probably April/May is a good moment. Can be quite hot in summer aswell.
The only concern I have is sleeping spots, if you can't get any you'll need to pack a tent which means lots and lots of extra kilos :(
I don't think it's gonna be very crowded in 15 days so I wouldn't worry about sleeping spots. It's the middle of the winter, your probably gonna be alone!
Should be do-able in 15 days but there won't be much time to relax then!
Will be indeed a good training! It's around 11 000 meters climbing and 11 000 meters descending spread over 10 days (thx wiki!). If you can do that one, you shouldn't have a problem with the G20 in corsica. Anyway, just having a decent condition should be enough I guess!
I'm concentrating on running atm to stay sharp! Will probably do the 10km of knokke, 15km of dwars door brugge, 10km of ghent & 10km of kortrijk!
The TMB is considered "easier" than Corsica though, as the GR 20 is the toughest of Europe. The TMB also has a massive amount of "gîtes" along the way so you can cut your deadlines any time you want.
Still got plans to do it in the summer?
I'm also running to keep up my conditions. Doing 10k three times a week, trying 15 once in a while. Hopefully I'll be ready for a marathon somewhere in September or October (Rotterdam seems to be good), but in the meanwhile I'm running the 10k of Gent, and first of all the 16k (or 10 miles) of Antwerp.
See you there? ;)
If you plan to sleep outside (not in the guarded huts etc) you will probably need to look where to before going because i believe it is forbidden to do it anywhere you want, and there are only a few places close to the huts where it is possible.
Oh and it should be really easy, like a grandma path.
